Transmission Ukraine: A Corporate Website with a Product Catalog for the B2B Market of Industrial Gearboxes
Transmission Ukraine, a supplier of industrial gearboxes and geared motors for machine-building and manufacturing equipment, approached us with a task that went far beyond “just making a website.” The old resource was effectively non-functional, while the business continued to lose traffic, leads, and the reputation of a reliable partner.
Our task was to create a full-fledged digital tool capable of speaking the language of an engineer, giving a procurement manager quick numbers, helping a mechanic find a replacement in three clicks, and convincing the owner of a small manufacturing business.
Challenge #1: How to speak to four different audiences at the same time?
The website audience is not homogeneous. A procurement manager wants to see the price, delivery terms, and a “Get a Commercial Offer” button on the first screen. A process engineer is looking for specification tables, PDF drawings, and the ability to compare models. A service center mechanic visits from a phone and needs “photo → specification → call” in three taps. The owner of a small manufacturing business wants to understand which gearbox fits their task, not just a catalog item.
We responded not with a compromise that averages everything for everyone, but with a content architecture where each segment received its own entry point.
- Industry solutions: the block guides production owners through application logic — “for a conveyor”, “for a mixer”, and other production tasks.
- Selection and analogs: a separate scenario addresses the mechanic’s pain when the exact model is unknown but there is a photo, nameplate, or problem description.
- Technical catalog: filters by power, speed, torque, service factor, and mounting type give engineers the tools for independent decision-making.
Challenge #2: How to sell a complex technical product when the client often does not know exactly what they are looking for?
The specific nature of the industrial gearbox niche is that many clients come with a request like “the gearbox has failed, we need a replacement” — without a model, without an article number, sometimes only with a photo or a nameplate. A classic catalog logic does not work here.
- “Selection / Analogs” section: this is not just a contact form, but a structured entry point for undefined demand.
- Process explanation: the page shows who the service is for, what is needed for selection, and why even minimal information is enough to start.
- File upload: the form allows users to attach drawings, equipment photos, or a nameplate.
- Help inside the product page: next to the specifications, there is a “Need help with selection?” block with fields for describing operating conditions and uploading files.
Challenge #3: How to build a catalog that works both for SEO and for engineers?
The old website structure had a critical problem: each “category” was effectively a final product, while variations were presented in tables inside a single description. This does not scale, is poorly read by search engines, and does not allow filtering by parameters.
We rebuilt the catalog architecture from the ground up. The new structure includes geared motors, gearboxes, electric motors, and variators, with logical subcategories where each size is a separate item with its own specifications, drawings, and 360° view.
- 14 filtering parameters: from series and manufacturer to service factor, gear ratio, and brake availability.
- Complete product page: video, 360° view, PDF documentation, and a “What it is suitable for” block.
- Specific applications: instead of generic phrases, the user sees real usage scenarios.
- Related options: the block helps compare adjacent models without returning to the catalog.
Challenge #4: How to build trust in a B2B market where trust is earned over years?
Industrial B2B is a market where supplier decisions are made slowly and painfully. Distrust toward companies without case studies, fear of line downtime due to an incorrect choice, pressure of deadlines and budgets — these are barriers that cannot be overcome with a nice banner.
- Industry solutions: for machine building, food production, agriculture, conveyor systems, and heavy industry, the site describes typical tasks, key selection requirements, and recommended equipment types.
- Documentation: all technical documentation is collected in one searchable table by name or article number.
- Production process: the assembly video shows real work, not a marketing promise.
- For wholesale clients: a separate section clearly explains cooperation terms, pricing logic, and advantages.
Result: A Platform That Speaks the Language of Manufacturing
Behind the restrained industrial design is an architecture ready for real load. The website was built on Drupal CMS with a full SEO package, schema.org microdata, automatic 301 redirects from the old domain, and loading speed optimization.
The admin panel allows the team to manage the entire catalog without developer involvement: from adding products and documentation to configuring Telegram notifications. For engineers, a product comparison module by specifications was implemented. For operational speed, instant Telegram notifications about requests were added.
The website follows inclusive design principles, includes a version switcher for people with additional needs, and is adapted for all devices.
Transmission Ukraine received not just a new website instead of a broken one. They received a digital tool that speaks the language of their clients — precisely, technically, and without excess.
